The new-gen Swift is expected to go on sale in 2023
Its been a while since Maruti introduced the new Swift in the Indian market and is currently expected to showcase the new-gen Maruti Swift at the upcoming Auto Expo in January 2023. The test mules of the new Swift were recently spied testing, thus revealing many details about this upcoming iteration of the Swift. Once launched, the new Swift will take on the rivals like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago in the Indian market and here are all the details that we know so far about the upcoming next-gen 2023 Maruti Suzuki Swift in India.
Upcoming New-Gen 2023 Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the Indian market and is currently in its third generation. The Swift takes on other affordable hatchbacks in the Indian market and offers a practical and comfortable package to the buyers. The Swift also offers a feature-rich package to the buyers complemented by sporty and aggressive looks and an attractive dashboard layout. Furthermore, the car is also backed by dependable after-sales support and affordable long-term maintenance.

Having said this, the test mule of the Swift was recently spied testing and is expected to make its global debut later this year. The spied images reveal a number of details of the new Swift including the design. For starters, this new version will get a redesigned grille, revised LED headlamps, and larger new alloy wheels. In addition to this, the car also flaunts a new bumper design, new fog lamp housing, and a wider air intake on the lower half of the new bumper. The car also gets significant exterior updates including a blacked-out pillar, aux air vents, a large roof-mounted spoiler, and prominent wheel archers.

Underpinning the new-gen Maruti Swift will be an advanced version of the Heartect platform that offers better dynamics and safety for the passengers. The new platform will also make the new Swift larger than before while the wheelbase too is expected to be slightly longer. The new platform will be lighter and will utilise high-tensile steel. The brand is however yet to reveal the dimensions and other specifications of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Swift.

From what we know so far, the upcoming 2023 Maruti Suzuki new-gen model is expected to get the same 1.2L K12 DualJet petrol engine with minor updates. The brand is also expected to offer a mild-hybrid powertrain option with the upcoming Maruti Swift. This engine, in its current iteration, churns out 89 bhp and 113 Nm of maximum torque while it comes mated to a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The brand is also expected to offer a CNG version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift in India with the launch of the new-gen iteration of the Swift.

On the features front, the Maruti Suzuki Swift will get features like a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start, automatic climate control, power operated ORVMs, auto-dimming IRVMs, steering mounted controls, rear defogger, etc. In addition to this, the new Swift will also get advanced connected car tech features.

The brand is yet to reveal the official launch timeline for the Indian market but we do expect it to launch the car by mid-2023 in India. Currently, Maruti is working on launching the new Grand Vitara Hybrid in India which will be followed by the launch of the new-gen Alto in late August.
