The Toyota Fortuner is currently one of the most popular SUVs in the Indian market and is available with multiple powertrain options including petrol as well as diesel engine options. The Toyota Fortuner takes on the rivals like the MG Gloster, Mahindra Alturas and other 4X4 SUVs in the market. The Japanese carmaker however has now temporarily stopped the Toyota Fortuner 4X4 bookings in India after stopping the Toyota Innova diesel bookings in the country. Here are all the details you should know about this latest move by Toyota in India.
Toyota Fortuner 4X4 Diesel Bookings Stopped
The Toyota Fortuner is currently being offered with petrol as well as diesel engine options that are being offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options. The diesel however is also offered with an optional 4WD system and boasts a peak power and torque output of 204 PS and 500 Nm respectively. The petrol engine on the other hand delivers 166 PS of maximum power while the peak torque figures stand at 245 Nm. Both these engines offer strong performance and impressive long-term reliability.

The bookings for the new Toyota Fortuner 4X4 diesel in India were stopped and the brand is likely to resume the bookings in near future. The brand had earlier stopped the Innova diesel bookings in the country. While the brand is yet to specify the exact reason for stopping the bookings for the Toyota Fortuner 4X4 diesel in India, multiple rumours suggest that this move comes after the brand is experiencing heavy demand for the said variants. The bookings for the Innova diesel however are said to be stopped due to some emission-related issues.

The Japanese carmaker is currently working on the launch of the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in India to take on the other midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and more. The new Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5L K15C petrol engine and a 1.5L TNGA strong hybrid three-cylinder engine. Both, manual as well as automatic gearboxes will be offered with the car depending on the variants you opt for.

If rumours are to be believed, the next-gen models of the Toyota Innova and the Toyota Fortuner are also likely to be revealed soon in the market. The new Toyota Innova will be offered with hybrid powertrain options and will also offer a new monocoque construction that will help improve the dynamics and in-cabin comfort levels of this MPV. Likewise, the cabin too will be offered with a host of updates including a new dashboard layout, new features, and connected car tech. The Toyota Fortuner on the other hand will continue to offer a ladder-on-frame setup and is likely to be offered with hybrid diesel engine options. More details however are yet to be shared by the brand.
