There is currently a strong demand for CNG SUVs in the country and a number of carmakers are currently working on expanding the CNG portfolio in the market. While Maruti recently launched a number of new CNG cars in India earlier this year, many other brands including Maruti are now believed to be working on many new offerings for buyers looking for practical and reliable CNG cars. Top Upcoming CNG SUVs in India
Maruti Suzuki Brezza
The Maruti Brezza is soon expected to be offered with a factory-fitted CNG kit and is likely to share its powertrain option with Ertiga CNG. For those wondering, it will be offered with a 1.5L K15C Bi-Fuel CNG engine that churns out a peak power output of 87 bhp and 122 Nm of maximum torque. Multiple reports suggest that the new Brezza CNG is likely to be offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options. The claimed fuel economy from this motor is expected to stand somewhere between 25-30 km/kg. The new Brezza will be the first CNG car to be offered with an automatic gearbox and will be offered with a feature-rich cabin, comfortable seating experience, and more. On the features front, it is expected to be offered with a large sunroof, push-button start, large infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charging, cooled storage console, and more.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
Toyota recently confirmed the launch of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG in India and the bookings for the SUV have now commenced in the country for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Japanese carmaker confirmed that the CNG powertrain option will be offered with mid-spec S and G trims. In addition to the CNG powertrain, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is also offered with a 1.5L K15 petrol engine and a 1.5L Atkinson cycle TNGA petrol engine. The 1.5L K15C bi-fuel CNG engine is likely to churn out a peak power and torque output of 88 bhp and 121.5 Nm respectively in the CNG mode while it churns out a peak power output of 101 bhp and 137 Nm of maximum torque in the petrol mode. It will only be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and will have a claimed fuel economy of around 26.10 km/kg. In the Indian market, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder takes on the rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and more.

Maruti Grand Vitara CNG
The new Grand Vitara SUV shares its underpinnings and powertrain options with the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and is one of the most practical offerings in the segment. The CNG version of the SUV will be offered with the same 1.5L K15C CNG engine that we get with the XL6 and the Ertiga CNG. This engine churns out a peak power output of 88 bhp and a maximum torque output of 121 Nm while it comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Tata Nexon CNG
The Tata Nexon is currently one of the safest SUVs in the Indian market and gives stiff competition to the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Brezza, and Renault Kiger. The Tata Nexon is currently being offered with two powertrain options – 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine. The brand is likely to soon launch the Tata Nexon CNG in the Indian market and the new CNG version of the car is likely to utilise the same 1.2L turbo petrol engine that we get with regular versions. This engine, in the petrol mode, churns out a peak power output of 120 bhp while the maximum torque output stands at 170 Nm. It can be had with either a manual or an automatic gearbox. The brand will soon be sharing more details about the launch of the Tata Nexon CNG in the country. The brand is also offering the Tata Tiago CNG and the Tata Tigor CNG in the country for those looking for a compact and cheap-to-drive CNG car in the country. In addition to this, the Tata Nexon is also offered with an all-electric powertrain option.

Tata Punch CNG
The Tata Punch is one of the most affordable entry-level SUVs in the country and is offered with a 1.2L petrol engine that churns out a peak power and torque output of 85 bhp and 113 Nm respectively. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. The Indian carmaker is soon expected to launch the new Tata Punch CNG in the Indian market which will share its CNG option with the Tata Tiago CNG. This Tiago CNG is powered by a 1.2L Revotron CNG Bi-Fuel engine that churns out a peak power output of 73.4 PS and 95 Nm of maximum torque in the CNG mode. The Tata Punch is also one of the safest offerings in the country and scored a GNCAP safety rating of five out of five stars. Once launched, the Tata Punch CNG will be one of the safest CNG SUVs in the country and will take on the rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG, Maruti WagonR CNG, and the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG.
