The recently launched new Mahindra Scorpio N is one of the safest SUVs in the country and is now offered with a much-improved package. This new iteration is now only based on an all-new architecture but also gets improved powertrain options. In addition to this, it also gets a more comfortable cabin, new features, and a better seating experience for the buyers. The SUV was recently crash-tested by GNCAP crash tests and scored a five-star rating as per the latest updated crash test protocols. Here are all the details you need to know about this new SUV.
Mahindra Scorpio N Gets 5-Star Safety Ratings
To start with, the new Scorpio N scored a maximum of 29.25 points out of a total of 34 in adult occupant protection tests while it secured 28.93 points out of 49 points in the child occupant protection tests. For those wondering, it scored five stars in adult occupant protection and a 3-star rating in child occupant ratings.

For those wondering, the new Scorpio N received good ratings for driver’s and passenger’s head and neck protection while the protection for the driver’s and passenger’s chest was rated to be marginal. The SUV however did impress us in the side impact test and showed good protection to the occupants with a score of 16 points out of possible 17. On the other hand, the SUV got an OK rating for the side pole impact tests while the protection for the chest region of the occupants got a weak rating. The bodyshell and the footwell area of the SUV were stable and capable of withstanding further loadings.

The official comments were as follows –
Frontal impact: the protection offered to the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck was good. The driver’s and passenger’s chests showed marginal protection. The driver’s and passenger’s knees showed good protection. Driver’s tibias showed adequate protection and passenger’s tibias showed adequate and marginal protection. The Footwell area was rated as stable. The bodyshell was rated as stable and capable of withstanding further loadings.
Side impact: head, chest, abdomen and pelvis protection was good.
Side pole impact: curtain airbags meet the fitment requirements and the pole impact test was performed in a version with side head protection airbags, showing good protection to the head, abdomen and pelvis, and weak protection to the chest.
ESC: meets the fitment rate requirements and the performance shown in the test was acceptable according to Global NCAP’s latest requirements.

Having said this, the new Mahindra Scorpio is offered with two engine options including a 2.0L petrol engine and a 2.2L diesel engine. Both these engines are offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options and offer strong performance. In addition to this, the new Scorpio N also gets a long list of features like a large touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument console, an automatic gearbox, a push-button start, and a large sunroof. A long list of other features are also on offer for buyers in the country.
