Tata Tiago EV

The cheapest electric car in the country is the most-affordable product in the Tata Motor’s stable, but in the petrol guise. Yes, we are talking about the Tata Tiago EV. It is on sale with prices starting from Rs 8.69 lakh and going up to Rs 11.99 lakh. The Tiago EV houses a 55 kW motor with 114 Nm of peak torque. The battery pack is a 24 kWh unit, delivering a claimed range of 315 km. The lesser trims come with a 250 km claimed range, as they are equipped with a smaller 19.2 kWh battery pack. Peak power and torque output on these trims stand at 45 kW and 110 Nm, respectively.

Citroen E-C3

The Citroen E-C3 is the electrified version of the French brand’s best-selling model in India. Also, it is the newest launch in our market currently. The E-C3 is priced from Rs 11.50 lakh, ex-showroom. It is available in two variants – Feel and Live. The EV gets a 29.2 kWh battery pack, delivering an ARA-claimed range of 320 km. The motor on duty is a 57 Hp/143 Nm unit, which gives it a top speed of 107 kmph, while 60 kmph from standstill comes in just 6.8 seconds. Interestingly, the E-C3 comes with an onboard 3.3 kW AC charger. Also, there is regenerative braking available on the E-C3.

Tata Tigor EV

The Tata Tigor EV has a starting price of Rs 12.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 13.75 lakh. It comes with a DC motor under the bonnet, which boasts a peak power output of 55 kW and 170 Nm of max torque. With a 26 kWh battery pack, it has a claimed range of 315 km. The Tigor EV can sprint from 0-60 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. Also, it has more boot space than its hatchback sibling – Tiago EV. Talking of charging time, it can be juiced up to 80 per cent in just 59 minutes via the DC fast charger, while the AC charger takes around 9.4 hours.

Tata Nexon EV

The Nexon EV was the first high-voltage indigenous electric car. It is currently available in two iterations – Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime, with claimed ranges of 453 km and 312 km, respectively. This is because the former is equipped with a larger battery pack of 40.5 kWh, while the latter gets a smaller 30.2 kWh battery pack. Talking of prices, the Nexon EV Max starts from Rs 16.49 Lakh and goes up to Rs 20.04 lakh. The Nexon EV Prime, on the other hand, has a starting price of Rs 14.49 Lakh and tops out at Rs 17.50 lakh, ex-showroom.

Mahindra XUV400

The Mahindra XUV400 was recently launched, and it is based on the XUV300. However, it is longer than the XUV300 to boast a larger boot space and more proportionate design. The XUV400 is priced from Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. The top-spec variant, although, costs Rs 19.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The Mahindra XUV400 gets a range of 456 km, with a battery pack of 39.4 kWh. The motor offers best-in-class torque of 310 Nm, aiding the XUV400 with a 0-100 kmph timing of only 8.3 seconds. Also, it is the only car in the segment to get 6 airbags.

MG ZS EV

The 6th and a complimentary entry on this list is the MG ZS EV. After all, it is the oldest product on this list. The ZS EV is on sale with a starting price of Rs 22.98 lakh, which extends up to Rs 26.99 for the range-topping trim. Moreover, there are just two trim – Exclusive and Excite. Also, the car comes fitted with a 176 PS/280 Nm motor and a 50.3 kWh battery pack. It has a claimed range of 461 km.
