The new Mahindra XUV900 halo electric SUV will be manufactured in India but will be pitted as a global SUV in the brand’s line-up
Mahindra is working on its new Born Electric range for a long time and has been teasing its range of concept SUVs for some time now. The brand not only aims to introduce highly capable and innovative products in its line-up but is also planning to introduce these new electric SUVs in the global markets. Mahindra also became the first Indian carmaker to venture into the EV space and recently teased the new Mahindra XUV900 halo electric SUV ahead of the official unveil in August this year. Here are all the details that we know so far about this new electric SUV.
For starters, the new Mahindra XUV900 is currently being designed at Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) and will be a part of the Born Electric SUV range. This concept electric SUV was teased by Pratap Bose, Chief Design Officer, Mahindra on the social media platforms. The official teaser also goes on to show how Mahindra has incorporated their learnings at Formula E into the XUV900 concept. The teaser also reveals more details including a fighter jet cockpit-like interiors with giant screens for the infotainment system and the instrument console.

The new electric XUV900 concept SUV will feature an aerodynamic design that will reduce air resistance and air drag. This new electric SUV is also claimed to have the lowest drag coefficients of any cars manufactured in India. The dynamics too will be impressive, thus making it extremely capable not only on the roads but on the race track as well.
The new XUV900 concept will be officially revealed on Aug 15 in the UK. The production-spec iteration of this electric SUV is expected to make its debut in 2023 or 2024. The Indian carmaker is also working on introducing the new Mahindra XUV300 EV that will take on the rivals like the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Nexon EV Max, and the newly introduced 2022 MG ZS EV facelift. The XUV300 EV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 13-20 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and will be launched in the coming months. The Indian carmaker is also planning to launch the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio in India soon. The new Scorpio will be underpinned by a new platform and will share its engines with the new Thar and the Mahindra XUV700. Other features like a new Adrenox infotainment system, digital instrument console, sunroof, LED headlights, and connected car tech will also be offered with the new Scorpio. The prices of this new SUV will be announced on June 27,2022. It is also worth noting the fact that the Scorpio-N will be sold alongside the Scorpio Classic in the market. Apart from this, the Indian carmaker is also working on the new XUV300 Sport which will be powered by a new 1.2L Stallion 130hp motor.
