The upcoming Citroen C3 SUV will directly take on the rivals like the Tiago EV in the Indian market and will boast a strong and practical package for the buyers
With demand for electric vehicles rising at a rapid rate, a number of brands are currently working on launching and expanding their electric cars in the market. Citroen is also expected to make its debut in the EV segment with the launch of the C3 EV in India early next year and will directly challenge the rivals like the Tata Tiago EV. Having said this, here are all the details you should know about the upcoming Citroen C3 EV in the Indian market.
Citroen C3 EV Launch In Jan 2023
For starters, the new Citroen C3 EV is likely to be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 and will be positioned as one of the most affordable electric cars in the country. From what we know so far, the upcoming Citroen C3 EV is likely to be powered by a 30.2 kWh battery pack that will use LFP cells from Chinese firm Svolt. It is likely to be offered with a 3.3 kW onboard AC charger while it will also support CCS2 fast charging. The brand is also working on localising production to keep the costs in check. Speaking about the launch, Taveres on Wednesday said – “How to make EVs affordable to the middle class is the biggest challenge. Only affordability can create scale and only then can it have a significant impact on the environment. I would love to buy a battery from an Indian supplier. I am still looking for it. We have not found a source yet; it will happen in the next few years.”

Powering the Citroen eC3 will be a single motor setup with a claimed power output of 86 hp while the maximum torque stands at 143 Nm. For a quick comparison, the Tata Tiago EV is offered with a 24 kWh battery pack with a rated ARAI-rated range of 315 km. It powers a 74 hp that has a maximum torque output of 114 Nm. Having said this, the new C3 EV is expected to boast a real-life range of close to 250 km on a single charge. Mentioned below are some important Tata Tiago EV charging details and range-

On the features front, the new eC3 will be identical to the ICE powered version and will offer features like a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, a digital instrument console, central locking and more. Moreover, will continue to offer similar exterior styling, same cabin, and a similar hardware setup. Likewise, it will continue to offer sorted dynamics and extremely comfortable ride quality.

From what we know so far, the new Citroen C3 EV will be positioned against the rivals like the Tiago EV and the Tigor EV in the Indian market and is likely to be priced from Rs 9-10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). More details however are yet to be known. The Tata Tiago EV on the other hand is priced from Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. Mentioned below is a detailed Tata Tiago EV price list-

Speaking about the launch, Tavares added – “At Stellantis, we do not push the metal, because we consider pushing the metal one kind of value destruction. So we are not chasing volumes; we are doing the right thing, in the right way. If we do the right thing, the volume will be the reward.” He added, “There is a big opportunity for India to be able to sell EV compact cars at an affordable price protecting the profitability. Because the country has such a cost-competitive supplier base, so it [exports to Europe] is possible.”
