The new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N will be sold alongside the Mahindra Scorpio Classic and will offer buyers a much more practical package.
With the launch of the new Scorpio-N all set to happen on June 27, 2022, Mahindra recently shared a number of details and official teaser images of the next-gen 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N. Few online reports that also surfaced on the internet revealed a number of specifications and details of the new Scorpio-N, thus giving us a hint of what to expect from the Big Daddy Of All SUVs. The Indian carmaker also confirmed that the present iteration of the Scorpio would also be on sale alongside the Mahindra Scorpio-N. This iteration will now be called the Scorpio Classic and will sit below the Scorpio-N in the brand’s portfolio. The new Scorpio-N has grown significantly in size when compared to the present iteration of the SUV. For starters, the Scorpio-N is 206mm longer than the Scorpio Classic and measures 4662mm in length. The width and the height on the other hand are measured at 1917mm and 1870mm respectively. The wheelbase stands at 2750mm. On the design front, the Scorpio-N shares a similar philosophy and features a boxy design language. Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs Scorpio Classic – Engine and Specs
The new update will bring two new engine options for the buyers of the new Scorpio-N – a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol and a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. While the petrol motor will only be available in a single state of tune (170PS), the diesel on the other hand will be offered in two iterations. The lower-spec variants of the Scorpio-N will get a peak power output of 130PS. On the other hand, the higher-spec models will boast a maximum power output of 170Ps. Both, the petrol as well as the diesel engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission. The performance will be a huge step-up when compared to the present iteration of the Scorpio. In addition to this, the new ladder-on-frame setup with a reworked suspension setup will offer better dynamics to the new Scorpio-N.

The Mahindra Scorpio Classic on the other hand gets a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. This engine churns out 120PS on the lower-spec versions of the SUV and 138PS on the more expensive iterations. The 120PS version comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the 138PS setup is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. No automatic gearbox is being offered with the Scorpio Classic.
