Mahindra will be launching the Scorpio-N in the Indian market on June 27, 2022. The new Scorpio-N will be one of the most capable and practical SUVs in the segment and will be underpinned by a new ladder-on-frame platform. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N has significantly grown in the size and now boasts a stronger road presence. The boxy design language and bold SUV looks will definitely help the Scorpio-N appeal to a wider range of people on the roads. Having said this, the next-gen Scorpio comes with dual-barrel LED headlights, machine-finished 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear defogger, LED tail lights, etc.

The Tata Safari is marginally small when compared to the Scorpio-N in terms of dimensions and boasts a more elegant and sophisticated design language. This SUV measures 4661 mm in length, 1894 mm in width, and 1786 mm in height. The wheelbase too is smaller by 9mm and measures 2741 mm. With these being said, it is worth noting the fact that the Tata Safari is based on Range Rover’s D8 platform. The Mahindra Scorpio-N gets two engine options that include a 2.0L mStallion Petrol engine and a 2.2L mHawk Diesel engine. While the former is expected to deliver a peak power output of 170PS, the diesel engine on the other hand will be available in two states of tune – 130PS and 170PS. Both these engine options are expected to be offered with two gearbox options – 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT. The higher variants will also get optional 4WD iterations. Powerful engine options, capable 4WD drivetrain, and tough ladder-on-frame construction will help the Scorpio-N boast impressive capabilities and performance. We see the same engine options in the Thar and the XUV700, but in different power tunes.

The Tata Safari is only available with a 2.0L Kryotec diesel that churns out 170PS and a peak torque output of 350Nm. As standard, this engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the buyers can also opt for an option Hyundai sourced 6-speed AT gearbox.
