Maruti Jimny Launch In 2023 – Top 5 Things That We Know So Far!

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is one of the most awaited upcoming SUVs in India in 2023 and will be offered in a 5-door iteration to take on the rivals like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha. If reports are to be believed, the Indian carmaker will be showcasing the new Jimny at the Auto Expo 2023. Having said this, here are the top five things that we know so far about the upcoming 2023 Maruti Jimny in India.

Powertrain Options

The new Jimny is expected to be offered with the new 1.5L K15C petrol engine that is also offered with cars like the new Vitara Brezza, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Ciaz, and the Maruti XL6. This powertrain is expected to feature mild-hybrid tech and will come mated either to a 5-speed manual gearbox or with a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit. For those wondering, this engine churns out a peak power and torque output of 103 bhp and 137 Nm respectively. Needless to say, the brand will be offering the Jimny with a capable and reliable four-wheel drive system. More details however are yet to be shared by the Indian carmaker.

Features And Cabin

The India-spec Maruti Jimny will feature a similar dashboard that is also offered with the three-door iteration of the car. This means that you will continue to get an all-black cabin and a simple dashboard layout that boasts an elegant and ergonomically sorted layout. On the features front, you will be offered with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connectivity, remote central locking, automatic climate control, and day-night IRVM. Other features like connected car tech, rear defogger, projector lights, push-button start, and electric ORVMs are also expected to be on offer with the new 5-door Maruti Jimny.

5-Door Body Shell

A major change that will differentiate the India-spec Jimny from the global variants will be a 5-door layout and a longer wheelbase. The cabin will not only be more spacious but in addition to this, will offer better practicality and a comfortable experience to the occupants. The five-door version also makes it more practical when compared to the rivals like the Thar and the Gurkha.

Dimension

From what we know so far, the Maruti Jimny will measure 3850 mm in length, 1645 mm in width, and 1730 in height. The wheelbase stands at 2550 mm while the ground clearance is claimed to be 210 mm. A detailed comparison of the 5-door Jimny with the 3-door version is given below in the table:
