The upcoming Maruti Jimny 5-door is one of the most talked about launches and will offer a robust package for buyers in the country
The Maruti Jimny will soon be launching in the Indian market and will be one of the strongest rivals to the cars like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha in the country. The new Jimny is likely to be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo and will be launched somewhere in August 2023. The brand will also be introducing the new Baleno-based YTB crossover at the same event. Having said this, here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming Maruti Jimny 5-door in the Indian market.
Maruti Jimny Launch Date In India
For starters, the new Maruti Jimny will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 and will be bigger than the global 3-door version of the SUV. If reports are to be believed, the new Jimny 5-door will be offered with the 1.5L K15B petrol engine that churns out a peak power output of 102 bhp and 130 Nm of maximum torque output. This engine came mated to either a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. Needless to say, it will be offered with Suzuki’s All Grip Pro AWD system.

From what we know so far, the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be launched in the country sometime in August 2023 ahead of the festive season in India. On the features front, the new Jimny 5-door will be offered with a large touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, cooled storage console, electrically operated side mirrors, push-button start, central locking, and more.

Having said this, the new Jimny 5-door will be offered with the brand’s AllGrip Pro 4WD setup that features a low-ratio gear that further multiplies engine torque and limits speed. The brand offers as many as three AllGrip systems out of which it is the AllGrip Pro 4WD that offers the best off-road driving capabilities. The setup gets two-wheel-drive high (2H) mode, four-wheel-drive high (4H) setup, and four-wheel-drive low (4L) mode. While the 2H mode is best suited for normal driving conditions, the 4H mode is used for off-road and slippery conditions. The 4L mode however is required for very tough off-road conditions like deep mud, sand, or very steep slopes.

The Indian carmaker will also be launching the new Baleno-Crossover in the market soon to take on the rivals like the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and more. The new Baleno Crossover is expected to be offered with two engine options – 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine. Internally codenamed as the YTB cross, this new car will be underpinned by the same platform that underpins the new Baleno hatchback in the country.
