The Hyundai Tucson rival Nissan X-Trail is one of the most capable and premium SUVs in the market today

Nissan India recently showcased its X-Trail SUV along with the Qashqai and the Juke in the country ahead of the launch of these offerings in the country. While the brand confirmed the launch of the Nissan X-Trail is the country soon, it did mention that it is currently being tested on Indian roads. In addition to this, Nissan is also testing the Qashqai in India and might launch it after the launch of the Nissan X-Trail in India. Having said this, here are all the details that you should know about the upcoming Nissan X-Trail.

Nissan X-Trail Showcased – Details

For starters, the new X-Trail will be brought into the country via the CBU route and will take on the rivals like the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson in the country. In the global markets, the new Nissan X-Trail is available in either 5-seat or 7-seat guises and is built on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform. It is available either with a 2.5L petrol or a 1.5L turbo petrol mild-hybrid powertrain while a 1.5L e-Power version is also on sale.

For those wondering, the e-Power is Nissan’s range-extender hybrid and gets a single-electric motor setup coupled with a 1.5L petrol engine that only exists as a generator to charge the batteries. This setup not only ensures a long range, but also helps the SUV boast strong fuel economy figures. In addition to this, the Nissan X-Trail is offered in 2WD and AWD versions. While the 2WD boasts a peak power and torque output of 204 hp and 330 Nm respectively, the AWD on the other hand delivers 213 hp and 500 Nm of peak torque output.

Nissan India also displayed the Qashqai and the Juke SUV along with the X-Trail. Both these SUVs are extremely popular in the global markets and it is the slightly smaller Qashqai that attracts the maximum number of buyers. It is also based on the same underpinnings as the X-Trail and can be had with turbo-petrol mild-hybrid and e-Power variants. The 1.3L turbo petrol engine makes 156 hp of maximum torque and comes mated with a CBT or a 6-speed manual gearbox. The e-Power setup on the other hand boasts a peak power and torque output of 190 hp and 330 Nm respectively.

For those wondering, the Japanese carmaker currently has no plans to introduce the Nissan Juke in the country and showcased it only to gauge interest. It is powered by a 1.6L turbo-petrol engine and promises strong performance and well as fuel economy figures. It measures 4.2m in length and falls in the popular midsize SUV segment in India.

In the Indian market, Nissan currently sells the Magnite and the Kicks for buyers looking for feature-rich and VFM products in the respective segments. Nissan is soon expected to expand its portfolio with the launch of CBU-imported global models in the country to attract buyers.
