The Indian automotive market is currently showing strong demand and is soon projected to be the world’s third-largest market in the coming few years. The Indian auto market also saw record-breaking sales last month and having said this, many brands are now all set to launch new cars in the Indian market. If you are also planning to buy a new car soon, here is a list of the top upcoming cars in India under Rs 15 lakh that you should check out.
Upcoming Cars In India
Maruti Jimny 5-Door
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 10-15 lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door was recently spied testing in the county and is soon expected to make its debut soon. Just like the global iteration, the Jimny 5-door will also boast a similar boxy styling and will measure longer than the 3-door version. From what we know so far, Maruti is planning to unveil the new Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023 while the launch is expected in Q2, 2023. Powering the new Maruti Jimny 5-door will be a 1.5L K15C petrol engine that will be offered with a 5-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. Needless to say, it will be offered with Suzuki’s AllGrip PRO AWD setup as standard. Once launched, the new Jimny will take on the rivals like the Mahindra Thar and the Force Gurkha.

Maruti YTB SUV Coupe
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 7-11 lakh
The Maruti YTB coupe was first showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and is expected to make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Based on the Maruti Baleno, this new coupe SUV will be offered with two engine options including a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. Both these engines are expected to be offered with both manual as well as automatic gearbox options. The reports suggest that the new YTB Coupe SUV is likely to be called the Baleno Cross and will be sold via the NEXA premium dealership network. It will lock its horns with the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. The price of the YTB SUV is expected to start from Rs 7-8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Furthermore, the new Baleno Cross will continue to offer a feature-rich and premium cabin.

New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 6-10 lakh
The Maruti Suzuki Swift Next-gen iteration was spotted testing on European roads and is expected to make its global debut by the end of this year. In India, the brand is expected to showcase the new-gen Swift at the Auto Expo 2023. From what we know so far, the new Swift will be offered with a long list of changes including styling updates, new interiors, and many new features that will help it give a strong competition to the rivals. The new Swift will continue to based on the HERTECT platform that also underpins the Baleno hatchback. In India, the Swift is expected to be offered with the same 1.2L NA petrol engine while we might also get a 1.2L K12C mild-hybrid petrol engine with the Swift. Needless to say, the new Swift will be offered with both manual as well as AMT gearbox options.

Honda Compact SUV
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 8-12 lakh
Honda is working on a number of new SUVs for India including a new compact SUV to take on the rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and the Renault Kiger. Based on the same platform that underpins the Honda Amaze, this new Honda SUV will boast a strong exterior design, premium interiors and a comfortable cabin in addition to a long features list. The new SUV is expected to share its styling cues with the Honda RS SUV concept that was showcased earlier at the 2021 GIIAS. Just like the Amaze, the new Honda Compact SUV is expected to be offered with a 1.2L petrol and a 1.5L diesel engine option. Honda might also introduce this SUV with a 1.5L petrol and an e:HEV powertrain. More details however are yet to be shared by the brand.

MG Air EV
Expected Launch – June, 2023
Expected Price – Rs 10-15 lakh
With electric cars now getting popular in India, many brands are currently gearing up to launch new cars in the country. While MG is already selling the MG ZS EV to take on the rivals like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV400, and Hyundai Kona in India, it is now all set to launch the new MG Air EV for the buyers looking for an affordable and a compact electric car in the country. The new Air EV is expected to be priced under Rs 10 lakh and will give tough competition to the rivals like the Tata Tiago. For those wondering, the Tata Tiago EV is priced from Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). More details will soon be shared by MG ahead of the launch of the MG Air in India.

Hyundai Stargazer
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 8-15 lakh
The Hyundai Stargazer is currently one of the most talked about MPVs in the Indonesian market and the Korean carmaker is soon expected to launch it in the Indian market sometime in 2023. Hyundai is also likely to showcase the Stargazer at the 2023 Auto Expo. For those wondering, the Hyundai Stargazer is based on the Venue/Sonet platform that is also utilised in the recently launched Kia Carens MPV. Once launched, the new Hyundai Stargazer will take on the rivals like the Maruti Ertiga, Maruti XL6 and the Kia Carens. Just like the Carens, the Hyundai Stargazer will be offered with 1.5L NA petrol and 1.5L turbo-diesel engine options for the buyers. Likewise, both these engines will be offered with manual as well as automatic gearbox options.

New Hyundai Verna
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 10-18 lakh
The new Hyundai Verna is likely to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023 and will take on the rivals like the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, VW Virtus, and the Skoda Slavia. Having said this, the new Hyundai Verna is likely to grow in size, offer a more spacious cabin, and will continue to offer a long list of features for buyers. In addition to all these updates, the new Hyundai Verna is also expected to get the ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, collision warning & avoidance system, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control and others. In the Indian market, the new Hyundai Verna is likely to be offered with three engine options – 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel, and 1.4L turbo petrol. Citroen 7-Seater SUV
Expected Launch – 2023
Expected Price – Rs 9-15 lakh
After the launch of the C3 hatchback in India, Citroen is now expected to expand its line-up with the launch of a new 7-seater SUV as part of its C-Cubed program. This new 3-seater model will be based on the Steallantis’ CMP (Common Modular Platform) that underpins the C3hathcback. When compared to the C3, this new SUV will measure longer and is expected to be offered with two petrol engine options – 82 PS 1.2L NA petrol and 110 PS 1.2L turbo-petrol. Once launched, it will take on the rivals like the Maruti Ertiga, Maru Suzuki XL6, Kia Carens and the Renault Triber.
